As of late, I'd had to majorly step up my self-care game and find new ways to get creative around the house during self-quarantine. This time has been a time of peace, relaxation and healing from home. I didn't realize how much I was neglecting my self-care, until I was drastically forced to slow down and stay home.
I know this is a really tense time for everyone with so much uncertainty in our near future. But I must urge my readers....
please stay home!
I know it's easier said then done, because life sometimes requires us to leave our little safe havens to go get groceries, run errands, and many of us still have to hustle to make money. We just have to do our part to solve the problem and not be an accomplice to COVID-19 by putting ourselves and others at risk. With that being said...I thought I'd share some of the practices I have been doing to stay sane during social distancing. So let's get started!
1. Cultivate Your Hobbies
This is a wonderful opportunity to get really good at a new or current hobby. I have been using this time to cook and learn more recipes in the kitchen. I've been researching and writing these recipes down in my customized Cuisine by Kara recipe book, a gift courtesy of my incredible sister Lyndsay. Take this time to try something new! Pick up a paint brush, take a whack at poetry or try out gardening! Maybe you'll discover something new about yourself...maybe you have a secret gift that's been waiting to be released.

2. Try a New Skincare Routine
I was so lucky to make a visit to Cos Bar on Coast Village Road in Montecito, CA a few weeks ago to pick up some new skincare products to try out. I've been trying out the CLE DE PEAU BEAUTE Firming Serum Supreme and the AUGUSTINUS BADER The Rich Cream. The combination of the two products has left my skin replenished and oh so glowy! Now that you're in the comfort of your own home...who's to say you can't mask while you work! I love the CLE DE PEAU BEAUTE Vitality-Enhancing Eye Mask Supreme to banish any signs of aging around the eyes for a lifted, smoothed, and re-contoured look. Eye masks have been my closet super hero because I have been having a lot of restless nights from all the stress of the news, and information being shared on social media. The Derma-E Vitamin C Bright Eyes Hydro Gel Patches have become a major part of my morning routine.
3. Subscribe to a Publication That Delivers to Your Door
Take your eyes off the news or social media and turn them to something that gives you weekly or monthly installment of entertainment. I subscribed to The New Yorker, and The Paris Review. I used to pick up the Paris Review from my local book store, but now I get it delivered right to my door! I look forward to getting my publications in the mail, it's something I look forward to!
4. Self- Quarantine in Style
It's time to up your comfort style! I found these incredibly soft and cozy house shoes on Amazon that I have been non-stop wearing. You can shop them here. I also invested in some adorable pieces like this Mango Pocket Knit Cardigan and Cropped Jersey T-Shirt And Wide-Leg Pants from Nasty Gal for around the house. I love shopping loungewear on Revolve, Nasty Gal, Aritzia and Zara! You can find such cute styles without breaking your bank.
5. Pick up a book and read!
This should come as no surprise to you that I am suggesting reading as a self-care practice. This is the perfect time to dive into a book or listen on audible. I love reading this book, Vanity Fair's Women on Women and I've been listening to Little Fires Everywhere on Audible before I start watching the Hulu series! I heard the television series is going to be fantastic!! Head to my last reading list to get inspiration for your next book!
5. Create Content at Home
What a wonderful way to get creative in your own home! Try out shooting product with different backgrounds and textures. You can even order backgrounds on Amazon like marble or slate to give you a cool aesthetic for you gram. This is also a great opportunity to go LIVE, film an IGTV or be more present sharing stories from your home!
